Introduction to Citrix XenDesktop 4 [BlogBattle]

citrix_logoCitrix last week released their Virtual Desktop product named Citrix XenDesktop 4. For Citrix it is the 3rd (have you ever seen 1.0 ?) generation of their VDI product. As part of the VDI Blog Battle. I’ll be using this post to update you on the architecture and basic info concerning Citrix XenDesktop 4.

What is Citrix XenDesktop ?

In my previous post, and in Svens previous post we already explained what VDI is so I’ll skip that part.

Citrix announced XenDesktop 4 like this:

The moment is here, XenDesktop 4 is available!

Much awaited and true to their promise Citrix has just officially made XenDesktop 4 available for download on the download page of MyCitrix.com : http://www.citrix.com/English/ss/downloads/results.asp?productID=163057 (you need to be registered and login).

Bloggers-Battle: Desktop Virtualization is THE way to go!

Before I start my first post in the VirtualFuture.Info Bloggers-Battle, let me first respond to Matthijs’  first post. And let me remind the readers, this is a Bloggers-Battle. Matthijs and I are trying to convince each other and the readers that one product is a better choice than another, just for this Battle. As consultants solving customers’ challenges, we always choose products that fit the customer needs best. There are more options to choose from when it comes to Desktop Virtualization (Quest vWorkspace for example) but for this battle we choose VMware View 4 and Citrix Xendesktop 4, which will bothbe released this month. Citrix XenDesktop 4 Licensing changes thanks to community power
