InstallFree Bridge Suite 1.9.0.5 Released

InstallFree released a new version of their application virtualization product: the InstallFree Bridge Suite 1.9.0.5. Some cool new features are in this release, self provision of applications for example, where end users can select and provision their own applications. The next step is to allow end users to package/encapsulate their own applications. This was demonstrated at VMWorld 2008 in Las Vegas, but is still not a current feature.

If you don’t know what InstallFree is or can do, tak a look at this introduction video.

If you do know what InstallFree is and you’ve worked with the product or want to work with it, you should definitely take a look at the independent user forum: InstallFreeguru.com. There isn’t a lot of info to find there yet, but it’s a good initiative and I will keep a close eye on the questions posted in the forum.

Here is the complete list of new features (taken from the release notes): Read the rest of this entry »

We’ve all seen the light concerning server consolidation, it’s (becoming) commodity. So what, at this moment, are the areas where the money is ? According to the authors (VMware stakeholders), VMware has defined 3 waves they are setting out to ride the next period : Read the rest of this entry »

I visited the Installfree booth at VMWorld today and they seemed very excited to meet me. Apparently, Installfree got some very positive feedback from people who read the application virtualization comparison chart I created with Matthijs Haverink. Now it looks like we have to update the chart with some new features that are not in the list write now and that competitors don’t have.
