VMware responds to benchmark VirtualizationReview.com: “bad benchmarking”
Yesterday VMware responded to the hypervisor benchmark that virtualizationreview.com published a week ago.
The overall conclusion is that VMware calls it bad benchmarking, and their reason sounds plausible.
VMware even states that they were planning on dropping the benchmarking clause in the EULA but thanks to benchmarkings like the one from virtualizationreview.com this won’t be done.
VirtualCenter on Linux
I was interested about the beta vCenter based on Linux. After i did read the documentation, I downloaded the Virtual Appliance.
The VirtualCenter on Linux appliance uses Red Hat Community Enterprise Operating System (CentOS), version 5, as the base operating system. VirtualCenter on Linux is based on VMware VirtualCenter server, version 3.5. VirtualCenter has been modified to operate on a Linux operating system.

More free chapters of VMware VI3: Advanced Technical Design Guide
Scott Herold just released chapter 4 from both books from the Advanced Technical Design Guide. He plans to post 2 chapters every 2 :weeks and at the end post the books as pdf for free:
Once we have all free chapters released, we’ll bundle the whole thing up in one nice PDF package so people can actually travel with all the info they will ever need on VI3.
It’s really nice that this book will be available for free, but by the time it is, we probably are all into the public release of vSphere 4!

The laughter is, as Alessandro states, because of the fact that during Paul Maritz’ keynote at VMworld Europe 2009 in Cannes 2 weeks ago, SAP got over 30 minutes of (my valuable !!!) time for a (pretty boring) presentation about what amazing stuff they were doing with VMware.
