Important vSphere ESX4.1i patch out!
Normally I don’t post info about KB articles out (I don’t post a lot at all I have to be honest and ashamed to say), but yesterday a patch was released that I’d like to give some attention. One of the reasons is that I ran into some pretty heavy issues at one of my customers and this patch addresses those issues.
The patch: Patch ESXi410-201010401-SG
KB article: 1027021
Applies to: ESX4.1i Installable, ESX4i Embedded
Released: 15th of November 2010.
Xenserver: fast-clone a VM 120 times in 90 seconds
I’ve been working on Project VRC lately and in this role I’ve had the opportunity to work with different hypervisors. In my quest to conquer Xenserver I ran into a couple of challenges and I would like to share these with my readers (as I learned it the hard way, why not make it easier for you).

VMware View 4.5 Expected Features
Yesterday I had a presentation (not under NDA) from VMware about the improvements and features that we can expect with View 4.5 (no guarantees) and I was impressed as well as disappointed. Disappointed about the fact that the feature that really drew my attention : Virtual Profiles (the RTOSoft acquisition) has some big disadvantages which gives me the feeling I still need a “real” Profile Virtualization solution.
It’s my personal guess, not mentioned by VMware, that View 4.5 will be released at VMworld 2010 San Fransisco in August 2010.
First thing: the client hypervisor. … Continue Reading
