VMworld 2008 - VDM 3.0 to be released this year !
Yesterday me and my colleague were at the VMworld Lab VMware Desktop preview, this was about the new version 3.0. This version incorporates a lot of new and really cool features like offline VDI, SVI and personal disks. Although an exact date has not been mentioned it was clear that this beta product is pretty close to release and an expected release date could be as early as the end of November. Other sessions I attended today showed me a lot of new features. There was one session called:
Sneak peak into future virtual infrastructure Products / Releases
This session was packed! Every seat was taken and there were lot’s of people standing. The woman who presented was Leena Joshi (sr Product marketing manager). There were so many new features that she had to talk very fast to fit all the slides in 45 minutes (she didn’t make it). I couldn’t keep up with her writing it all down, so I took some pictures. Johan and I will explain more about these new features later this week. Read the rest of this entry »
Installfree will announce new features @ VMWorld!
I visited the Installfree booth at VMWorld today and they seemed very excited to meet me. Apparently, Installfree got some very positive feedback from people who read the application virtualization comparison chart I created with Matthijs Haverink. Now it looks like we have to update the chart with some new features that are not in the list write now and that competitors don’t have. Read the rest of this entry »
Today VMWorld 2008 started off with partner day. The first session I attended was the EMEA regional session. It is definitely noticeable there is a new wind blowing through VMware. They are changing a lot of things marketing-wise. I guess that’s the influence of Paul Maritz. As a former Microsoft-guy, he knows how marketing is done.
VMWorld 2008 - Las Vegas - Let’s get started
It really comes close now, what I mean is VMworld is really getting close and the expectations are growing, at least as far as I’m concerned. We landed in Las Vegas last friday after a long flight, did a walk up and down the strip, walked through several casino’s and we were overwhelmed by the shear over the topness of Las Vegas. Every thing is so out of bounds. We did a check on the Venetian, which seems larger than expected.
For everyone who is coming to the convention you can spot us through our polo’s we are wearing, mentioned in an earlier blog by Sven. We are going to hand over the prize winning shirts to Tim for his “You Never Forget your first P2V” and Scott for his “Be Wiser, use a Hypervisor” our fellow blogger Matthijs will hand over the polo to Rob for his “Real Men use Real Hypervisors”. If you spot and approach us you might get your very own polo with the VirtualFuture logo on it (we have a few extra).
New Vizioncore products to be featured at VMWORLD
VMWorld is getting in everybodies blood, everybody is getting nervous. In this case it is Vizioncore with the announcement which products will be demoed at VMWorld in Las Vegas. Here’s the mail I received from these guys:

EWeek.com had a Q&A with VMware’s president and CEO Diane Greene. She talks about how virtualization has changed the last year and how she thinks virtualization will develop the next 12-18 months. It’s a good read, and here are some things that interested me the most: Read the rest of this entry »
