VMworld Europe 2009: Client Virtualization Platform (CVP)

Today VMware announced new collaboration with Intel Corporation to deliver the VMware Client Virtualization Platform (CVP) as a new product that will be part of the VMware View suite of desktop virtualization products. According to the press-release, the upcoming Client Hypervisor requires Intel vPro:

VMware CVP is a bare-metal client hypervisor optimized to run on desktop and notebook client PCs utilizing Intel® Core®2 and Centrino® 2 processors with Intel® vPro™ technology. CVP will extend the centralized management capabilities of VMware View by enabling end users to run their virtualized desktop environments on desktop or notebook PCs and work online or offline while IT administrators manage these environments securely from a central location. This helps customers further reduce the operating costs of PC management while boosting business flexibility and end user productivity.

This is already a little more information than we got during the keynote speech. I think Stephen Herrod will dive a little deeper tomorrow during his keynote session. I will keep you posted!

Basically, you have 2 parts: 1 that runs on each host (Virtual Ethernet Module) and 1 virtual appliance that runs the supervisor (Virtual Supervisor Module). … Continue Reading

VMworld Europe 2009: Solution Exchange Preview!

This afternoon we were given the opportunity to see the solution exchange at VMworld Europe 2009, which will open tomorrow. The opportunity was given by a person who would like to remain anonymous. It did cost us a VirtualFuture.info shirt, but it was worth it, especially the CA-booth, check the video!

Anonymous guy:
