Quest Software announced the availability of the newest version of Quest vWorkspace, a desktop virtualization solution for simplifying the provisioning, management and use of virtual desktops. In addition to its support of the VMware platform, vWorkspace also now supports VMware Linked Clones, which reduce shared storage disk space requirements. Other new features enhance the end-user experience and expand desktop platform choices. vWorkspace manages, provisions and brokers connections, transforming the desktop infrastructure into an on-demand service with optimized user experience for LAN and WAN.
As I was playing around with XenDesktop 4, I had some trouble connecting the Citrix Desktop Delivery Controller to the vCenter server. And as 95% of Xendesktop deployments are on VMware VI or vSphere, I thought this tip could be useful for you as wel. Read the rest of this entry »
We all know that ESX supports LUNs / Disks up to 2TB (minus a few kb) but what happens when a larger locally attached disk is connected to a host?
This is what I have noticed when I tried to create a large volume on my own ESX white box with more than 2TB locally attached storage: it only allowed me to create a volume with the space above the 2TB. In my situation I got a 48 GB volume on a 2048 GB LUN. Also, this ”2TB” volume, which I created with the vmkfstools commandline utility, was useless because I could not create a single VM on it. VMware View 4 was released nearly 2 weeks ago and I thought it could be useful to sum up all the interesting links for VMware View 4. I might add some more links the in the next couple of weeks, but I think this is a good start. Please comment if you have another good link.
