Just a quick note to everyone who’s interested in VMware: Alan Renouf is taking an online survey to check whether it’s a good idea to start a Virtual VMware user group. Please visit his blog, it only takes 2 minutes.
Workaround for some VMware View Offline limitations (testing purpose only!)
I wanted to test the VMware View Offline desktop. I know it has some limitations at the moment and that it is still an experimental feature. But still, I wanted to be able to show a customer the capabilities that VMware View already has in the current release, whether it is an experimental feature or not. I managed to work around some of the limitations and in this post, I explain how. Read the rest of this entry »
On various blogs people are speculating about the release of the Citrix XenApp plugin for the Iphone on the Citrix Synergy Event. I cannot wait till the plugin is available. Funny part is, seems like the development work has been done already and it’s just waiting for the release, some blogs sugest the plugin has already been sent to the Itunes store. A demo of the Xenapp Plugin can be viewed since MACworld 2009. I’ll keep you posted during the Synergy event.
To my surprise I noticed that VirtualFuture.info is now in Eric Siebert’s Top 20 of virtualization blogs on his VMware vLaunchpad! VirtualFuture.info entered at number 19, so there is still room for improvement
.
VMware vLaunchpad is your one stop shop for all the best VMware resources, websites and blogs.
What I like especially about the VMware vLaunchpad is the vBar, where you can select the VMware documentation, admin tools and powershell scripts from a drop-down menu.
VMware just released a minor updated version of ThinApp. ThinApp is the application virtualization solution from VMware and allows you to virtualize an application into a single executable.
The only thing that’s new in this version is:
- The 4.0.2 release adds the Wow64 parameter to the Package.ini file. You can use this parameter to help run 32-bit applications on a 64-bit Windows operating system.
But there are a lot of bugs fixed in this release. You can read them all in the release notes.
And to show application virtualization isn’t that simple as it looks, take a look at the known bugs in this release: one bug is still not fixed, while it seems like a simple thing to fix:
- Acrobat Reader 9 causes 100 percent utilization.
